The Roy Group Story

On 17 August 1917, Alfred and Florence Chisholm named their son after the surname of a woman living in Kemnay, Scotland; Ms. Ellen Roy. This woman, who Alfred had come to know growing up in Scotland as his "Auntie Ellen", had written to him just a few years previous - explaining the well-kept secret that he was her son, born out of wedlock and given to a nearby family, the MacGregors, to raise.

Amongst circumstances that many might have hidden - Alfred crafted a response - and a son - of simple integrity and quiet honor. Roy Chisholm would grow to be a remarkable man - husband, father and farmer.

Three concentric circles signify past, present and future; the three spheres of earth, air and water; the rising, noon and setting sun; and the reconciliation of opposites. The Roy Group "ripples" represent the story of a farmer who comes across a dried-out spring. After patiently and methodically removing the silt and debris the man watches the source refill to capacity and its potential overflow.
